1 Getting to know your VivoMini
Features Front panel ASUS VivoMini Drive activity indicator This indicator lights up when your VivoMini is accessing the internal storage drive. Power button The power button allows you to turn the VivoMini on or off. You can also press the power button once to put your VivoMini to sleep mode.
Left panel The Kensington security slot allows you to secure your VivoMini using Kensington® compatible security products. NOTE: The position for this slot may vary per model. Memory card slot The built-in memory card reader enables your VivoMini to read and write data to and from MMC/SD cards. USB 3.0 ports The USB 3.0 (Universal Serial Bus 3.0) port provides a transfer rate of up to 5 Gbit/s and is backward compatible to USB 2.0.
Rear panel Air vents The air vents allow warm air to exit your VivoMini chassis. NOTE: The air vents found on the bottom side of your VivoMini allow cool air to enter your device. It is recommended that you place your VivoMini on a flat stable surface for optimum air ventilation. IMPORTANT! For optimum heat dissipation and air ventilation, ensure that the air vents are free from obstructions. Power input (DC 19V) The supplied power adapter converts AC power to DC power for use with this jack.
HDMI port The HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) port supports a Full-HD device such as an LCD TV or monitor to allow viewing on a larger external display. DisplayPort The DisplayPort sends high-performance digital output from your VivoMini to a display device such as an LCD TV or HD monitor. USB 3.0 port The USB 3.0 (Universal Serial Bus 3.0) port provides a transfer rate up to 5 Gbit/s and is backward compatible to USB 2.0.

Using your VivoMini 2
Getting started Connecting the AC power adapter To connect the AC power adapter to your VivoMini: A. Connect the AC power cord to the AC/DC adapter. B. Plug the AC power cord into a 100 V~240 V power source. C. Connect the DC power connector into your VivoMini’s power (DC) input port. NOTE: The power adapter may vary in appearance depending on the model or region.
IMPORTANT! • We strongly recommend that you use only the AC power adapter and cable that came with your VivoMini. • We strongly recommend that you use a grounded wall socket while using your VivoMini. • The socket outlet must be easily accessible and near your VivoMini. • To disconnect your VivoMini from its main power supply, unplug your VivoMini from the power socket.
Connecting a display panel You can connect a display panel or projector to your VivoMini that has the following connectors: • HDMI connector • DisplayPort connector • VGA connector (use with a DisplayPort to VGA adapter or HDMI to VGA adapter) • DVI connector (use with a DisplayPort to DVI adapter or HDMI to DVI adapter) NOTE: The DisplayPort to DVI adapter, HDMI to DVI adapter, DisplayPort to VGA adapter, or HDMI to VGA adapter are each sold separately.
Connecting USB keyboard or mouse You can connect generally any USB keyboard and mouse to your VivoMini. You can also connect a USB dongle for a wireless keyboard and mouse set. To connect a keyboard and mouse to your VivoMini: Connect the USB cable from your keyboard and mouse to any of the USB ports of your VivoMini. Turning on your VivoMini Press the power button to turn on your VivoMini.
Turning off your VivoMini If your VivoMini is unresponsive, press and hold the power button for at least four (4) seconds until your VivoMini turns off. Putting your VivoMini to sleep To put your VivoMini on Sleep mode, press the Power button once. Entering the BIOS Setup BIOS (Basic Input and Output System) stores system hardware settings that are needed for system startup in the VivoMini. In normal circumstances, the default BIOS settings apply to most conditions to ensure optimal performance.
Memory upgrade 3
Upgrading memory modules Your VivoMini comes with two SO-DIMM memory slots that allow you to install two 2 GB, 4 GB, or 8 GB unbuffered with non-ECC 1.35 V DDR3L 204-pin SO-DIMMs for a maximum of 16 GB memory. IMPORTANT! • It is recommended that you replace the memory modules under professional supervision. Visit an ASUS service center for further assistance. • Refer to http://www.asus.com for the list of compatible DIMMs. You can only install 1.35 V DDR3L SO-DIMM to the VivoMini’s DIMM slots.
3. Using a flat-head screwdriver or straightened paper clip, remove the rubber feet from the bottom side then set them aside. IMPORTANT! Take note of the orientation of the holed rubber foot on the cover, and the number printed under each rubber foot. These indicate the sequence you must follow when removing the rubber foot from its slot. Refer to the following illustration for details.
4. Remove the four screws securing the cover. 5. Get one screw from the ones you previously removed then place it into the hole. Leave a portion of the screw head that would be enough for you to hold.
6. 24 Hold the screw then gently pull out the cover from the bottom side of the VivoMini. Use your other free hand to hold the VivoMini in place.
7. Align and insert the memory module into the slot (A) and press it down (B) until it is securely seated in place. Repeat the same steps to install the other memory module. IMPORTANT! Always install into the lower slot first. 8.
9. Reattach the screws to secure the cover back on the bottom side of the main box. 10. Replace the rubber feet back on each screw hole. IMPORTANT! Take note of the orientation of the holed rubber foot on the cover, and the number printed under each rubber foot. These indicate the sequence you must follow when replacing the rubber foot back into each slot. Refer to the following illustration for details.

However, to ensure your safety, it is important that you read the following safety instructions. Lithium-Metal Battery Warning CAUTION! Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer’s instructions. NO DISASSEMBLY The warranty does not apply to the products that have been disassembled by users DO NOT throw the VivoMini in municipal waste. France Restricted Wireless Frequency Bands Some areas of France have a restricted frequency band. The worst case maximum authorized power indoors are: • • 10mW for the entire 2.4 GHz band (2400 MHz–2483.5 MHz) 100mW for frequencies between 2446.5 MHz and 2483.5 MHz NOTE: Channels 10 through 13 inclusive operate in the band 2446.6 MHz to 2483.5 MHz.
This requirement is likely to change over time, allowing you to use your wireless LAN card in more areas within France. 1 Faire connaissance avec votre VivoMini
Caractéristiques matérielles Avant ASUS VivoMini Témoin d’activité du disque dur Cet indicateur lumineux s’allume lorsque le VivoMini est en cours d’accès au support de stockage interne. Bouton d’alimentation Le bouton d’alimentation permet d’allumer ou d’éteindre le VivoMini. Vous pouvez également utiliser ce bouton pour basculer l’ordinateur en mode veille.
Côté gauche Fente de sécurité Kensington® La fente Kensington® permet de sécuriser l’ordinateur à l’aide des produits de sécurité compatibles. REMARQUE : La position de cette fente peut varier en fonction des modèles. Fente pour carte mémoire Le lecteur de cartes mémoire intégré à l’ordinateur prend en charge les cartes mémoire aux formats SD/MMC. Ports USB 3.0 L’interface USB 3.0 (Universal Serial Bus 3.
Arrière Orifices de ventilation Ces orifices permettent à l’air frais de pénétrer le châssis et de refroidir le VivoMini. REMARQUE : Les orifices localisés sous le VivoMini permettent à l’air frais de pénétrer l’appareil. Il est donc recommandé de placer votre VivoMini sur une surface plane pour garantir une ventilation optimale. IMPORTANT ! Assurez-vous qu’aucun objet ne bloque les fentes d’aération pur éviter tout risque de surchauffe.
Port HDMI Ce port est destiné à la connexion d’un périphérique externe lui-même doté d’une interface HDMI (HighDefinition Multimedia Interface). Il est compatible avec le standard HDCP permettant la lecture de disques Blu-ray et de tout autre contenu intégrant un verrou numérique. Prise DisplayPort Ce port permet de connecter votre ordinateur à un périphérique d’affichage externe doté d’une interface d’entrée vidéo compatible tel qu’un moniteur ou un téléviseur LCD. 2 Utilisation de votre VivoMini
Mise en route Connecter l’adaptateur secteur au VivoMini Pour connecter l’adaptateur secteur à votre VivoMini : A. Connectez le cordon d'alimentation à l'adaptateur secteur. B. Branchez le cordon d'alimentation sur une prise électrique fournissant un courant compris entre 100V et 240V. C. Connectez l'adaptateur secteur à la prise d'alimentation du VivoMini. REMARQUE : L’apparence de l’adaptateur secteur peut en varier en fonction du modèle et/ou du pays ou de la région d’achat.
IMPORTANT ! • Il est fortement recommandé d'utiliser le cordon d'alimentation et l'adaptateur secteur fournis. • Il est fortement recommandé d'utiliser une prise reliée à la terre lors de l'utilisation de votre VivoMini. • La prise électrique doit se trouver à proximité du VivoMini et être aisément accessible. • Pour déconnecter le VivoMini de sa source d’alimentation, débranchez l’adaptateur secteur de la prise électrique.
Connecter un périphérique d’affichage Vous pouvez connecter le VivoMini à un écran externe ou un projecteur par le biais des interfaces de connexion suivantes : • Prise HDMI • Prise DisplayPort • Prise VGA (par le biais d’un adaptateur DisplayPort-vers-VGA ou HDMI-vers-VGA) • Prise DVI (par le biais d’un adaptateur DisplayPort-vers-DVI ou HDMI-vers-DVI) REMARQUE : Les adaptateurs DisplayPort-vers-DVI, HDMI-vers-DVI, DisplayPort-vers-VGA et HDMI-vers-VGA sont vendus séparément.
Connecter un clavier ou une souris USB Le VivoMini est compatible avec la plupart des souris et claviers USB. Vous pouvez également y connecter le dongle USB d’un clavier ou d’une souris sans fil. Pour connecter un clavier ou une souris USB à votre VivoMini : Connectez le câble USB de votre clavier ou souris à l’un des ports USB 2.0 de votre VivoMini. Allumer le VivoMini Appuyez sur le bouton d’alimentation pour allumer votre VivoMini.
Éteindre le VivoMini Si le VivoMini ne répond pas ou se bloque, maintenez le bouton d’alimentation enfoncé pendant environ quatre (4) secondes pour le forcer à s’éteindre. Mettre le VivoMini en veille Pour basculer le VivoMini en mode veille, appuyez brièvement sur son bouton d’alimentation. Accéder au BIOS Le BIOS (Basic Input and Output System) stocke divers paramètres matériels nécessaires au démarrage du système de votre VivoMini.
3 Mise à niveau des composants
Installer des modules mémoire Votre VivoMini est doté de deux interfaces de connexion SO-DIMM (204 broches ; 1,35V) dédiées à l’installation de modules mémoire DDR3 de 2 Go, 4 Go ou 8 Go, pour un maximum de 16 Go de mémoire vive. IMPORTANT! • Achetez et faites installer des modules mémoire uniquement auprès d’un revendeur agréé pour assurer une fiabilité et une compatibilité optimale. Renseignez-vous auprès d’un centre agréé pour plus d’informations. • Seuls des modules mémoire DDR3 So-DIMM de 1.
3. Utilisez un tournevis à tête plate ou un trombone déplié pour retirer les patins en caoutchouc du dessous de l'ordinateur. IMPORTANT ! Faites attention à l’orientation de chacun des patins en caoutchouc ainsi que du chiffre imprimé sous chacun d’entre eux. Ces derniers indiquent la séquence de retrait à suivre. Consultez l’illustration suivante pour plus de détails.
4. Retirez les quatre vis sécurisant le couvercle. 5. Utilisez l'une des vis précédentes et placez-la dans l'ouverture. Conservez une portion suffisante de la tête de vis en dehors du couvercle d'ordinateur de sorte à pouvoir la prendre en main.
6. Tirez d’une main sur la vis pour désengager le couvercle. Utilisez votre autre main pour maintenir le VivoMini en place.
7. Alignez et insérez le module mémoire dans le slot (A) et appuyez dessus (B) jusqu’à ce qu’il soit bien en place. Répétez les mêmes étapes pour installer un module mémoire additionnel. IMPORTANT ! Utilisez le slot inférieur en priorité. 8. 60 Retirez la vis attachée au couvercle (A), puis replacez le couvercle en place (B).
9. Replacez les vis pour sécuriser le couvercle au boîtier principal. 10. Replacez les patins en caoutchouc. IMPORTANT ! Faites attention à l’orientation de chacun des patins en caoutchouc ainsi que du chiffre imprimé sous chacun d’entre eux. Ces derniers indiquent la séquence de retrait à suivre. Consultez l’illustration suivante pour plus de détails.
