ASUS Wireless ADSL Router Internet Configuration Guide
Introduction:
This document describes how to set up ASUS wireless ADSL router such as WL-600g,
WL-AM604g and DSL-N13 to getting connection to the Internet and provides troubleshooting
tips to help you fix some simple problems.
STEP1: Connecting the wireless router
The figure below illustrates a connection diagram example.
STEP2: Getting to know your Internet connection type
The router supports following connection types: PPPoA(PPP over ATM), PPPoE(PPP over
Ethernet), MER(MAC Encapsulation Routing), IPoA(IP over ATM), Bridging.
Please inquire your ISP what the type you use and the VPI/VCI value.
9 Some DSL-based ISPs use PPPoA (Point-to-Point Protocol over ATM) to establish
Internet connections. In this type, you must have User Name and Password from ISP
supply. In addition, if your ISP supply you a permanent, fixed (static) IP address to
your computer, please also fill in it to router.
9 Most of DSL-based ISPs use PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) to
establish Internet connections, select “PPPOE”. If you are connected to the Internet
through a DSL line, check with your ISP to see if they use PPPoE. In this type, you
must have User Name and Password from ISP supply. In addition, if your ISP supply
you a permanent, fixed (static) IP address to your computer, please also fill in it to
router.
