Getting to know your Chromebox 1
Features Front view Headphone/Headset/Microphone jack This port allows you to connect amplified speakers or headphones. You can also use this port to connect your headset or an external microphone. USB 3.2 Gen 2 port The USB 3.2 Gen 2 (Universal Serial Bus) port provides a transfer rate up to 10 Gbit/s. These ports also support the Battery Charging 1.2 technology that allows you to charge your USB devices.
Rear view Air vents The air vents on the rear allow warm air to exit the Chromebox chassis. IMPORTANT! For an optimum heat dissipation and air ventilation, ensure that the air vents are free from obstructions. LAN port The 8-pin RJ-45 LAN port supports a standard Ethernet cable for 10/100/1000/2500 Mbps connection to a local network. USB 3.2 Gen 1 port The USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Universal Serial Bus) port provides a transfer rate up to 5 Gbit/s.
HDMI port This port is for the HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) connector and is HDCP compliant for HD DVD, Blu-ray, and other protected content playback. DisplayPort This port allows you to connect your Chromebox to an external display. NOTE: When using only this port as a display output source, this port will support a resolution of up to 3840 x 2160 @60Hz. The resolution may also be affected by the cabling and output device.
Thunderbolt™ 4 with Power Delivery input port This Thunderbolt™ 4 port provides the following: • Transfer rate of up to 40 Gbit/s for Thunderbolt™ 4 devices. • DisplayPort 1.4 support (3840 x 2160 @60Hz). • Backward compatible to USB 3.2. • USB power delivery with a maximum of 5 V / 3 A output. Support for power (DC) input when connected • to an external device that is PD (Power Delivery) compliant with a 20 V / 5 A output.
Right view Kensington security slot The Kensington security slot allows you to secure your Chromebox using Kensington® security products.
Top view Qi wireless charging zone (on selected models) This charging zone allows you to charge devices that support Qi 1.3.2 wireless charging technology without the need for cables. NOTE: • Wireless charger output: Max. 15 W (12 Vdc/1.25 A) • The actual charging power varies depending on your Qi-compatible devices. • We recommend that you remove thick cases from Qi-compatible mobile devices before placing them on your ASUS Chromebox 5.

Using your Chromebox 2
Getting started Connect the AC power adapter to your Chromebox To connect the AC power adapter to your Chromebox: A. Connect the power cord to the AC power adapter. B. Connect the DC power connector into your Chromebox’s power (DC) input. C. Plug the AC power adapter into a 100V~240V power source. NOTE: The power adapter may vary in appearance, depending on model and the country (or region) of sale.
IMPORTANT! • We strongly recommend that you use only the AC power adapter and cable that came with your Chromebox. • We strongly recommend that you use a grounded wall socket while using your Chromebox. • The socket outlet must be easily accessible and near your Chromebox. • To disconnect your Chromebox from its main power supply, unplug your Chromebox from the power socket.
Connect a display panel to your device You can connect a display panel or projector to your device that has the following connectors: • HDMI connector • DisplayPort connector • Thunderbolt™ 4 connector NOTE: These ports may vary depending on the model. To connect a display panel to your Chromebox: Connect one end of an HDMI, DisplayPort or Thunderbolt™ 4 cable to an external display, and the other end of the cable to your Chromebox’s HDMI port, DisplayPort, or Thunderbolt™ 4 port.

Connect the USB cable from keyboard or mouse You can connect generally any USB keyboard and mouse to your Chromebox. You can also connect a USB dongle for a wireless keyboard and mouse set. To connect a keyboard and mouse to your Chromebox: Connect the USB cable from your keyboard and mouse to any of the USB ports of your Chromebox. NOTE: The keyboard varies depending on the country (or region) of sale.

Tips and FAQs
Useful tips for your Chromebox To help you maximize the use of your Chromebox, maintain its system performance, and ensure all your data are kept secured, here are some useful tips that you can follow: • Unless absolutely necessary, refrain from using force shutdown to turn off your Chromebox. • Always backup your data and make it a point to create a backup data in an external storage drive.
Software FAQs 1. What software works on a Chromebox? Chromeboxs use apps from the Google Play Store and on the web. There are apps to be productive, get creative, enjoy movies and shows, play games and more. 2. How do I get more apps? You can get more apps from the Google Play Store 3. or the web. Can I use Microsoft Office software? Chromeboxs work with Microsoft® Office. Whether it’s Word, Excel® or PowerPoint®, you can easily find the apps on the web. 4.
7. How do I set this up for my child? If you want to set up parental controls for your child, it’s important that you sign in using your child’s personal Google Account. If they don’t already have one, you can create one during the sign-in process on your Chromebox. You will be able to add your child’s school account after you complete device onboarding.

However, to ensure your safety, it is important that you read the following safety instructions.
