AIR3 Overview AIR3 is both an iPod docking station and an Internet Radio that enriches your audiovisual life. You can play your iPod music through the AIR3 speakers. When connected to a display, AIR3 allows you to view your iPod videos or image files. AIR3 also provides easy access to a wide selection of radio stations on the Internet. Before enjoying your ASUS Internet Radio, ensure that you have access to a wired/ wireless network.

AIR3 Getting to know your AIR3 Front view 1 2 3 1 LCD display The LCD display, with adjustable backlight, shows user interface. 2 IR receiver The IR receiver receives commands from the remote control. 3 Speakers The built-in speakers deliver high-quality audio output. The silk dome tweeters (3W x 2) produce natural and original sound; the woofers (15W x 2) provide solid and real bass sound. You may remove the front net cover to see the speakers.

AIR3 Both the VIDEO OUT and S-VIDEO functions are for the playback of iPod videos or image files only. 8 HEADPHONE jack The stereo headphone jack (Φ 3.5mm) is used to connect the device’s audio out signal to amplified speakers or headphones. Using this jack automatically disables the built-in speakers. 9 Power switch The power switch allows powering ON and OFF the device. 10 DC 20V power jack The supplied power adapter converts AC power to DC power for use with this jack.

By connecting the device to a display, videos or image files stored in an iPod can be viewed.

AIR3 iPod mode AIR3 is an iPod docking station that allows you to play iPod music and view iPod videos or photos. Playing iPod music 1. 2. 3. Connect your iPod to AIR3. Press the iPod mode button on the top panel ( remote ( ) to switch the device to this mode. Use the AIR3 remote to control the playback.
AIR3 Playing iPod videos or photos 1. Connect AIR3 to a display using one of the following methods: • VIDEO OUT: Plug one end of a composite cable (yellow) . into this jack on the rear panel and the other end to the . display. • S-VIDEO: Plug one end of the supplied S-Video cable into . this jack on the rear panel and the other end to the display. 2. AIR3 AUX mode You may connect your own playback device to AIR3 to use the device as speakers. 1. 2. Connect the supplied 3.5mm jack audio cable to the AUX IN jack on the rear panel from a playback device. Press the AUX mode button on the top panel ( ) or on the remote ( ) to switch the device to this mode. In AUX mode, the playback control buttons (Play/Pause; Previous track; Next track) on the AIR3 top panel or the remote control do not work on your playback device.
AIR3 AIR mode Searching for a radio station AIR3 has an up-to-date, well-classified list of online radio stations worldwide. Not every Internet radio station has a corresponding traditional radio station. Some of them broadcast via the Internet only. You can search for a station by global rankings, music genre, or location. You can also go through the stations categorized in alphabetical order.
AIR3 Searching by genre 1. 2. From the main menu, select Internet Radio > Radio Station/Music > Genre, and a list of music genres displays in alphabetical order. Press the Up/Down button to highlight a genre. Highlight a station and press OK to connect to the station. Searching by country/location 1.

Highlight a station and press OK to connect to the station. • For countries that have a huge number of radio stations, the stations are sub-classified by name initial alphabetically. • If you select a language other than English, you will see the name of the country where that language is spoken in the Radio Station/Music menu.

AIR3 Managing My Favorite AIR3 saves up to 250 stations to My Favorite so that you can have quick access to preset stations. To manage your favorites list: 1. 2. Press the Favorite button ( ) on the remote control (or top panel) or select Internet Radio > My Favorite from the main menu. A list of preset stations displays. Highlight a station on the list and press the Right button to display the submenu as the following. You can also connect to the highlighted station directly by pressing OK.
AIR3 UPnP playback Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) is a network protocol that allows devices to connect to a computer for data sharing within a home network. Through UPnP, AIR3 can play music on your PC as long as they are connected to the same ������������������������������ network. You may use Windows® Media Player 11 (or later versions) or other UPnP-enabled applications for media sharing. AIR3 is not able to play the videos or image files on your computer.

AIR3 Playing PC music on AIR3 After configuring media sharing settings on your computer, AIR3 is ready to play your computer music. 1. 2. 3. 30 AIR3 From the main menu, select Media Center/UPnP. Your computer name is displayed on the screen. Select the computer name to display music folders. Select a music folder or playlist to begin playback. • For UPnP playback, you need to put your music files into the default Music folder.
AIR3 Other settings Weather forecasting AIR3 provides worldwide weather forecasts via the Internet for today and the next four days. You can check them out by locations, or set the weather forecast of a city you select to be displayed in Standby mode. Checking out weather forecasts 1. 2. From the main menu, select Information Center > Weather. Select a continent, country, and then city to display the weather forecast of a location.
AIR3 Standby mode display The Configuration > Weather > Standby display > Turn on standby display option allows weather forecasts to be displayed in Standby mode. You can also select the Temperature unit between Centigrade (˚C) and Fahrenheit (˚F). �������������������������������� If you have already set �������� weather forecasts to be displayed in Standby mode and have selected a location (see page 31), AIR3 will provide information as the following examples.
AIR3 Configuration Selecting Configuration from the main menu allows you to configure the AIR3 setups including Network, Clock, Alarm, Language, Dimmer, Sleep Timer, Buffer, Weather, Version Update, and Reset. Network Refer to the Quick Start Guide for details. Clock The Configuration > Clock option allows you to set the time/date and a format for displaying time. The first time you turn on the device and connect it to the network, the display shows Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
AIR3 To program an alarm: Go to Configuration > Alarm > Turn On (1)/(2) or XXX Minutes (NAP). 1. You can program two different alarms or set a nap alarm that will set off after XXX minutes. Select Set Alarm Time and enter values. Refer to the “Text entry” section on page 18 for details about entering numbers. Select Set Alarm Sound to choose a sound type from Beep, Melody, Radio (the station you last listened to), and iPod (the iPod music you last played).
AIR3 Sleep Timer The Configuration > Sleep Timer option allows you to select a preset amount of time after which the device shuts off. You can also set the sleep timer by pressing the Sleep button ( ) on the remote control. When this function is activated, the XXX icon will appear at the upper right corner of the display, XXX signifying the minutes left. Six options are available: Turn Off, 15 Minutes, 30 Minutes, 60 Minutes, 90 Minutes, and 120 Minutes.

Go to Configuration > Version Update and select the item (a string of numbers) you are allowed to download. • �������������������������������������������������������������� If there is no item displayed, it means your current firmware version is the latest. • The device will download the latest station list version automatically as long as it is connected to the network. The station list version is signified by the last four digits of the number string. Select Yes.

Why is it that I cannot hear anything from the speakers? • Some stations may not have 24-hour broadcasts. You cannot hear anything If the stations do not send out any programs. • �������������������������������������������������������������� Either your AIR3 speakers are muted or the volume is too low.
AIR3 The wireless connection is not stable. • Establish a wired connection to test if your network is reliable. • If the wired connection is more stable than the wireless one, use the LAN connection instead. Why does the list of online radio stations change? The addresses of the Internet radio stations may vary, so ASUS technicians update them regularly. Your AIR3 will obtain the latest list automatically as long as it is connected to the network.
