The switch modules have one, two or three buttons with LEDs and a some switch modules have a buzzer. The backplate is designed to be mounted over flush fitted back boxes and an array of holes in the backplate allows it to be mounted over various international back boxes. As an alternative to the backplate a spacer is available for surface mounting the teleCARE switch modules, with or without a back box.

The 4-pole connector provides SWITCH and GND terminals for connection to a normally open contact of an external switching device. These terminals provide 5.5Vdc at 0.6mA, for monitoring the external device contact.
