Removing Your Old Thermostat 4. Tum off your VAC system WARNING: For your safety, you must tum off your VAC system before removing your oid thermostat. Every VAC system is different, but usually you tum off a master switch or switch the system off In your home's breaker box, {Sign 4} Note: The master switch or breaker bax is often found in your basement, attic, garage, or utility closet.

Label the wires according to the corresponding terminals. if there are any Jumper wires (wires connecting different terminals together, da not label these wires. {Figure fl] Remove them and store them with your ald thermostat. The terminals on your old thermostat may already have 2 different sets of labeling—one set for a conventional VAC system and one set for a heat pump system.

The PEK connects to your thermostat wires to create a circus that provides power to your thermostat. Power Extender Kit (PEK) The PEK has 4 terminals on ane side and 5 terminals on the other side. + The side with 4 terminals Is not per-wired. Connect the thermostat wires to the terminals. + The side with 5 terminals s per-wired to connect to your VAC corral board.
INSTALLING THERMOSTAT WITHOUT A © WIRE (CONT) Compatibility The power extender kit (PEK) requires that your VAC system has one of the following sets of wires: 4 Withdraws: WWI, Y/Y1, G, and R {Including Re or Rhy or 8 iron 6, and R (including your VAC does rot have these wires, your system may not be compatible wih the PEK.
