PRODUCT #18464 & 18465
Thank you for having selected an Aquatica Camera
Housing System. Should you ever have any questions
or comments concerning this product please contact
your local dealer or contact us at (514) 737-9481 or at
info@aquatica.ca .
The extension you have is designed to work with either
the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L (#18464) or with the
Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L (#18465). On the side of the
port is a retractable knob that is designed to work with
the focusing gear supplied with this extension ring.
This Extension Ring ts between the housing body and the port to not only provide the extra space
needed for the longer lenses, but for optical reason as well, when the supplied focus gear is mounted on
the lens, manual focus overide become possible with the knob situated on the side of the port, zooming
is done by using installing the optional zoom gear for your lens and rotating the knob located on the left
hand side of the housing
Before mounting the extension on the Hou-
sing always ensures that:
The port O-ring is clean, lubricated and
properly seated in its gland.
The sealing surface on the Housing is
clean and free of physical damage.
The Aquatica Housing System features a bayonet mount with four possible mounting positions that will
allow you to locate the control knob at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock positions. Place the extension inside the
front opening of the housing, push the it until the bayonet is completely inside the housing; nally turn
the extension clockwise approx. 60 degrees and if your housing is equipped with one, press the locking
button of the housing to allow the extension to rotate until the bayonet is stopped, release the port lock
button. Check to ensure proper seating and sealing.
NOTE: If there is too much resistance, take the extension off, check O-ring and retry. It is recommended
that you familiarize yourself with this mount by trying without the camera thus allowing you an inside view
of the bayonet mount.
To mount the focus gear:
The focus gear is designed to be installed prior to the optional zoom gear,
start by inserting from the back, as you reach the focus ring of the lens, you
will nd it easier to install if you rotate and push the gear at the same time (as
seen in illustration on the right), the gear is equipped with a stopper that will
prevent it from going too far.
Install the optional zoom gear on the lens, pull out the retractable knob of
the extension as mentionned earlier and then mount the zoom lens on the
camera, you are now ready to mount the dome port in place.
A lockable collar (# 18469) is available to secure the extension to the port, this easily mount on the
extension ring and will secure the whole port/extension assembly.
TO SERVICE O-RINGS ON THE EXTENSION RING
1. Removing the O-ring. It is important never to use a sharp instrument when removing an
O-ring as this may damage the O-ring groove or the O-ring itself. A dull pointed object or
the edge of a credit card usually works well.
2. Once the O-ring is removed, it should be examined for damage. Check that it is free of nicks
and cuts and that it retains its original round prole. O-rings that appear to be damaged
should be discarded immediately and replaced with new ones.
3. Rinse the O-ring with fresh water and dry it with a clean lint free cloth.
4. Clean the O-ring groove (where the O-ring sits) with a cotton swab. Be sure to remove
any lint the cotton swab may leave behind. Inspect the groove for damage.
5. Wipe the part of the housing that the O-ring seals against with a clean lint-free cloth.
6. Re-grease the O-ring with a thin layer of Aquatica O-ring lubricant until it appears to
be smooth and shiny. Do not over grease it. Use just enough grease so the O-ring will
pull smoothly through your ngers. Excessive amounts of grease will only serve to attract
dirt to the o-ring.
7. Make sure that the O-ring is properly and evenly seated in the O-ring groove.
8. Reinstall the clean and lubricated main O-ring,
WARNING: Use only petroleum free O-ring lubricant such as our # 19213 Aquatica
O-ring Lubricant, petroleum based lubricant used by some other manufacturer for their
Silicone made O-rings can and will swell the material of our O-ring, this will make the
O-ring more difcult to install and can result in the O-ring being damaged or pinched
with dire consequence.
Internal O-rings on the focus knob control are not user accessible, while these O-rings are not as
susceptible to damage as they are not exposed, rinsing properly with fresh water to ush out salt crystals
and sand residues will the proper way to assure trouble free operation, it is recommended by the
