before beginning a major cutting operation. First-time users should practice cutting logs on a sawhorse or cradle before undertaking other operations. 4. Do not attempt to cut limbs with diameters larger than max. 180 mm. Preparing The Work Area 1. Clear the area of children, bystanders and pets; keep them outside a 50-foot (15 m) radius, at a minimum. Even then, they are still at risk from thrown objects. Encourage bystanders to wear eye protection. If you are approached, stop the unit immediately.

Cutting Procedure Basics 1. Start the unit. Refer to “Starting Instructions” in the “Starting and Stopping” section. 2. Accelerate the unit to full speed before cutting. 3. Press the unit against the wood and maintain a firm, steady pressure through most of the cut. Do not put pressure on the unit at the end of the cut. 4. Maintain a steady speed throughout the cut. Keep the unit running through the entire cut. 5. Do not try to force the saw through the wood. Allow the saw chain to do the cutting.
1. Make the first cut approximately 6 inches (15 cm) from the tree trunk. Cut upward, from the underside of the limb. Use the top of the guide bar to make this cut. Cut a third of the way through the diameter of the limb. 2. Make the second cut 2 - 4 inches (5 10 cm) farther out on the limb. Cut downward, from the top of the limb. Use the bottom of the guide bar to make this cut. Cut completely through the limb. 3. Make the third cut as close to the tree trunk as possible.
Trimming Tips 1. When operating the hedge trimmer, keep the extension cord behind the user and the trimmer. Never drape it over the hedge being trimmed. 2. This tool must not be used as a lever to lift, move or split objects. 3. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Greasy, oily handles are slippery causing loss of control. 4. Always disconnect the unit from the power source when it is not in use. 5. Do not force the hedge trimmer through heavy shrubbery.
shrubs with one hand and operate hedge trimmer with the other. Failure to heed this warning can result in serious injury. WARNING: Clear the area to be cut before each use. Remove all objects such as cords, lights, wire, or loose string which can become entangled in the cutting blade and create a risk of serious personal injury. WARNING: Read the safety information for safe operation using the blade. Extreme care must be taken when using blades to ensure safe operation.

cutter. Lift the file away from the cutter at the end of the forward stroke. Only file on the forward stroke. maintaining a 30 angle. 4) Always wear heavy-duty protective gloves. 5) Ensure the chain is correctly tensioned. Tighten the chain tension so that the saw chain is taut and does not wobble. Refer to “The Chain Tension”. NOTE: Always file the saw chain at the midpoint of the guide bar. 6) Use a suitable round file and file holder, whose diameter is 1.1 times the cutting tooth depth.
File all the left-hand cutters in one direction first. Then move to the other side of the saw chain and file all of the right- hand cutters in the opposite direction. Use a 0.025 inch (0.635 mm) depth gauge jointer and a flat file (tools not included) to lower the depth gauge to the correct clearance. After lowering the depth gauge, use the flat file to restore the original rounded shape to the depth gauge Take care not to damage the cutting edges or nearby links.
Maintaining The Guide Bar Most guide bar problems can be prevented merely by keeping the product well maintained. Incorrect filling and non-standard cutter and depth gauge settings are the causes of most guide bar problems, primarily resulting in uneven bar wear. As the bar wears unevenly, the rails widen, which may cause the chain to clatter and make it difficult to complete straight cuts.
6. Check the guide bar 'rail' for wear: Hold a ruler (straight edge) against the side of the guide bar and 'cutter side plates'. If there is a gap between the ruler and guide bar the guide bar 'rail' is normal. If there is no gap (ruler flush against the side of the guide bar) the guide bar 'rail' is worn and needs to be replaced with a new one of the same type. 7. Turn the guide bar 180° to allow even wear, thereby extending the life span of the guide bar. 8.
operation is dusty, also wear a dust mask. Wear ear/hearing protection when operating this unit. Use a hard hat or other type of safety helmet.
